Have you ever forgotten the WiFi password for your home network connection and left with no other option than to restore the WiFi router? Most of the time, we tend to realize this while connecting to a new WiFi network device or when a friend or relative visits your home and asks for your password. There are many ways in which users will search for the password using Windows and Mac devices or by accessing the configuration page of the router. Apart from each of the strategies that can be found, there must be at least one device to connect to the WiFi network.
If the users do not have any device connected to the Wi-Fi network, they connect it to the WPS switch on the back of the router or they can use a coaxial cable to connect and access the router's configuration page. What is the password for your WiFi network anyway? Whether or not you have changed the default password, it is easy to find your WiFi password. You can also search for a Wi-Fi network password if you previously connected it from a laptop or Mac running Windows.
Case 1: When WiFi is connected to any Windows or Mac device
1. For the Windows device
- Right click on the Windows WiFi settings from the taskbar
- Select the option 'Open network and share centre'
- As the next screen appears. Click 'Change adapter settings'
- Double click on the 'WiFi' option
- On the wireless side, select the option 'Wireless properties'
- Click on the 'Security' tab at the top and bottom 'See the password' selection to see the password.
2. For Macintosh device
- Click WiFi icon on the top
- Select the option 'Open network preference'
- On the next screen, click on 'Show password'
- Possibility to see the password.
Case 2: when WiFi is not connected to the device
1. Use the Ethernet cable and connect it to a Windows device
- Connect the RJ45 cable to the laptop with Windows
- Open the router configuration page
- Enter the login data (by default, the administrator is each ID and the password on most routers. But for many details check the router's user guide)
- Once the session has started, click on the WiFi option to Router and appearance of the password or security configuration.
- Obtain the option 'See password' to read the password.
2. Use the WPS button to connect the device
WPS allows users to connect to the WiFi network, but not the requirement of parole. In most cases, users must press the WPS button on the back of the router and connect the device. Once connected, users will access the configuration page of their router or use the Case One technique to understand the password.
