10+1 Hidden Features of WhatsApp

The popular WhatsApp chat application is full of hidden features. We discovered 11 of them to help you.
When you start using WhatsApp, you're probably missing some of these useful hidden features.

1. Text message format on request

WhatsApp offers you text in bold, italic or tactile in the execution. To do so, add some special characters before and after what you want to format.
For bold on WhatsApp, use a star (* bold *); italicize the text with an underscore (_italicize_); Low penetration text with accents (~ strikethrough ~).

2. Send a message

Directing a message creates a convenient way to return to a phone number, address or link in the article that a friend sent you. Touch the message slowly, then touch the star icon.
To see your featured messages, select the Star tab at the bottom of the iOS screen. Android users must press the Menu button and then the star messages.

3. Who do you talk to the most?

Are you curious to know who is your best friend on WhatsApp? If you have an iPhone, it is easy to understand.
Go to Settings> Data usage and storage> Warehouse. A list of contacts will be filled, depending on who uses the information stored on your phone. Touch each contact to see more detailed statistics, such as the number of messages exchanged, images and GIFs.
Android users can go to Settings> Chat> Chat history> Email Chat to see the same information.

4. Obtain message information

Have you ever wondered when a message was delivered or read? Slide your finger to the left in a message you sent to see these statistics on your iPhone. Android users can long-press a message and then press the "Information" icon at the top of the screen.

5. Turn off a call

When you go to watch a movie or a meeting, use the WhatsApp silence feature to mark a group conversation or a friend who does not understand the track you are busy with.
Android users can press a chat a lot and then press the skipped speaker icon at the top of the screen. iPhone users should open a conversation, then press the name of the contact or group at the top of the screen followed by Silence.
WhatsApp allows you to silence a chat from 8 hours to 1 year, which seems a bit like an exaggeration.

6. Hide your last seen state

Do not want your friends or random contacts to know your "Recently Viewed" time? Open Settings> Account> Privacy> Recently viewed.
WhatsApp offers three options: All, My contacts, None.

7. Disable reading receipts

If you go a step further, you can disable the WhatsApp reading receipts. This prevents other users from knowing that you have read a message.
Now follow these steps.
First, go to Settings> Account> Privacy and uncheck the box next to Read receipts.
Note: if you deactivate this function, you also prevent a friend from reading your message. Group chats will continue to use the reading receipts.

8. Do not save images, videos by default

If you prefer that WhatsApp does not save all the photos and videos that you receive in the roll of your camera, recording space and take your own photos, it deactivates the automatic saving.
On an iPhone, first, open Settings >Chat and turn on Save inbound media.
This is a feature that seems to be missing in Android.

9. Use WhatsApp on a computer

As we covered earlier, you can use WhatsApp from a computer with relative ease.
The core of the process is to choose WhatsApp Web in the mobile application, visit web.whatsapp.com on your computer and scan a QR code with your phone.

10. Personalized messages

Instead of having the same warning sound for each incoming message, you can configure custom alerts for individual contacts. If you do, it will be easier to know who signed up without looking at your phone.
Android users must touch the Menu icon when a chat thread appears, followed by Show contact> Custom messages.
For those who use WhatsApp on an iPhone, tap the name of the contact when you see a chat thread and then Custom Notifications.

11. Export a call

You can export a call if you need to save it. When viewing a conversation, Android users must press the Menu button followed by More> Email chat.
On an iPhone, the process involves viewing a chat thread, touching contact at the top of the screen and then scrolling down at the bottom of the Contact Information page and selecting Export Chat.
Both devices allow you to export with or without attachments.
